My Skillshare Classes

SKILLSHARE CLASS: Springtime Watercolor Landscape

In this class, I guide you through my creative process for painting a springtime landscape in watercolor. Our subject will be a woodland path through the bluebells. The video content covers everything from the underdrawing all the way through to the final touches, with each segment accompanied by a detailed voice-over. Please Note: This is a slower-paced intermediate to advanced level class, with much of the video being shown in real-time. I do not go in-depth into materials and also expect students to have some prior understanding of watercolor painting. As a bonus, I included an extra video with some tips on how to mix your own purples. Much of the course content discusses basic landscape techniques, composition, and how to create depth in your work. I hope you will come paint along with me!

The class will cover how to choose and combine reference photos, tools for observation and seeing basic shapes, methods for creating textured ink linework, how to paint a simple background, and then finally, how to bring your subject to life. These lessons are geared towards beginner to intermediate skill levels with some prior experience. Interested in a custom art piece? I would love to work with you!

Please contact me directly via email, amy@amyearls.art, (or direct message) so we can begin the process of making your vision become a reality. Commissions are priced based on the size of the finished piece and the complexity of the subject matter. For example, an average 8"x10" landscape painting would be $250. A 5"x 7" painting starts at $150. If this exceeds your budget, please contact me anyway, we can probably work something out that is agreeable to both parties.

My Workflow for Commissions: After discussing a project with the client, I require a 50% deposit to start the creation process. I will then begin by generating one or more sketches to be approved by the client before proceeding to the final work. This ensures we are both on the same page and happy with the direction of the art. Once this has been agreed upon I will begin the finished product. Please allow 2 weeks following sketch approval to receive the completed painting (does not include shipping).

I specialize in landscapes, plants, and animals. Please, no human portraits.

Find me on social media to stay up-to-date on my latest work. Post images feature watercolor paintings and sketches from my most recent projects.
